Food insecurity looks different for everyone. For some it’s more than not having food, its also the inability to have enough food. Unfortunately, job loss related to the pandemic has exacerbated the issue forcing many people to prioritize paying rent over having a meal. With 23% of Illinois residents facing the issues listen as our panel discusses ways providers are helping members.

I am glad to hear this podcast addressing food insecurity, a large part of SDOH. We at our level - as primary care providers, who take care of the Medicaid members see through our providers and medical assistants the need to address: food, shelter, jobs and transportation issues. Addressing the above SDoH can and will improve the population health and reduce healthcare expense. We are trying to collect data into the SDoH while we make our home visit. We can do a lot more if there is an CPT at
